PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) while keeping its fingers crossed in view of upcoming assembly election on Wednesday said that alliance plans will be announced only after election is declared.
Speaking to the media, MGP working president Narayan Sawant said the party has three options of which it will choose one with the consent of the party workers. He said that they can either contest the elections alone or align with the Bharatiya Janata Party or Goa Suraksha Manch.
Sawant said that party is confident of winning over 10 seats. “If we go alone and contest from more constituencies we will get more seats,” he said.
Sawant said MGP supports the BBSM movement for the medium of instruction which demands to stop grants to English primary schools.
Speaking to Herald he said that MGP is having a series of meetings with the BBSM and their political party and also with the senior BJP leaders in Goa as well as at centre.
He said that most of the party workers and central committee members have voted to go it alone in the coming election after breaking ties with BJP.
