PANJIM: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Tuesday demanded immediate resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and imposition of the President’s rule in the State.
Speaking to reporters, MGP legislator Sudin Dhavalikar said that the former Governor Satya Pal Malik has made serious allegations of corruption in everything against the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant. He said that the Chief Minister has no right to continue in power and demanded that he should immediately resign or the Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai should immediately dismiss him and to bring the State under the President’s rule.
Dhavalikar also suggested that the Assembly elections which are due to February 2022 be advanced to December end or be held in the first week to January next year.
The MGP leader charged that the estimated cost in the tenders have been hiked by 40 per cent to 50 per cent by adding extra amount. He gave examples of the ongoing work of the Kala Academy building, Bicholim bus stand, Banastarim bazaar and the Khandepar bandhara where extra amount has been added in the estimated cost. He demanded investigation into these tenders.
