PERNEM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) Pernem and Mandrem on Monday launched free WiFi facility in Mandrem and Corgao Village Panchayat jurisdiction for students attending online classes.

MGP Mandrem has made the service available for the students in jurisdiction of Mandrem panchayat at the panchayat hall while MGP Pernem has launched the service at old MGP office Corgao.

Herald had highlighted the issue of poor network connectivity in different parts of Pernem taluka followed which, the two MGP leaders from Pernem and Mandrem constituency launched these services which will be available for the school, college and students doing various courses.

A parent said, “Academic year 2019-20 and this year too, the students are suffering due poor network connectivity during their online classes. They are forced to walk outside the houses and go in hilly areas. Also moving out in the rains with umbrella, books and mobile handset was a matter of concern. Providing Wi-Fi facility was the need of the hour”.

Students from both the village panchayats have appreciated this initiative taken since they claimed that they have been suffering due to poor network connectivity.

Meanwhile, the members of the MGP Pernem unit organised a bhajan programme by the side of the highway and later burnt the effigy of local MLA Manohar Babu Ajgaonkar to draw the government’s attention to the highway’s pathetic condition.

The party also condemned Ajgaonkar and PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar for playing with people’s lives. The party members also planted coconut saplings in the potholes along the highway and sought CM’s intervention.
