PANJIM: Marcaim MLA Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Wednesday dropped a bombshell when he stated that 19 MLAs, including 12 turncoats who had jumped to the BJP last year, are trying to form a new front.
Addressing the media, Dhavalikar said that there was speculation after NCP president Sharad Pawar met Leader of the Opposition Digambar Kamat on Tuesday. “I am told that 12 MLAs, who entered BJP last year now want to leave and along with seven others are planning something,” Dhavalikar said.
He refused to reveal who the other seven MLAs were but said, “I will not be party to any such moves. I don’t know whether they want to topple the government or not but I am not part of it.”
Dhavalikar said that such dramas will continue unless the electorate gives a clear majority to any one party. “I will rebuild the MGP and will contest all 40 seats. This coming Gudi Padwa, we will start building the party ahead of the 2022 Assembly elections,” Dhavalikar said.
The MLA said that no other party has given better governance than the MGP in the State since liberation. “The Congress and BJP have ruined the State,” he said.
He blamed Congress for the double -tracking, coal and Mhadei issues. “The double-tracking, coal handling were all planned under UPA and now same people are coming on the streets. The BJP is implementing the works,” he said.
On Mhadei, he said that it was during the Congress government that work on the Mhadei was started by Karnataka.
The former Deputy Chief Minister said he is with the people on the coal issue. “Our people were very much there in the coal agitation but it is just that we did not advertise like others,” he stated.
Dhavalikar was also critical of Sunburn being held this year and the Narkasur celebrations. “Just because such events generate revenue for the government, these things cannot be allowed. Rave parties and Sunburn anyway do not yield anything positive,” he said
Dhavalikar said that the Narkasur celebrations need to also be called off as youth cannot maintain social distancing.
