MGP president’s land excluded from ESZ

PANJIM: In a major relief to Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) President Pandurang ‘Deepak’ Dhavalikar, the Department of Town and Country Planning (TCP) has notified the exclusion of a land owned by former minister from the eco-sensitive boundary of the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary.

Dhavalikar said that TCP Department has just notified the rectification of the error done by the Forest Department.

The TCP said that inclusion of the land as eco-sensitive zone in the Regional Plan 2021 was a “cartographical error”, wrongly included in the Regional Plan, and is being corrected under Section 16B of the TCP Act.

“The Chief Town Planner (planning) upon examination of the representation has found that the said triangular portion, which is part of eco-sensitive zone, is a cartographical error and wrongly included in the Regional Plan 2021 as eco-sensitive zone boundary of Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary,” Chief Town Planner Rajesh Naik said in the notification.

Dhavalikar had sought the exclusion of the land via an application moved on February 20, 2020.
