PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Monday declared its first list of candidates in four constituencies.
The party which has a pre-poll alliance with BJP would be contesting on Benaulim, Nuvem, Tivim, Ponda, Dabolim, Priol, Marcaim and Quepem constituencies.
In the first list of candidates, MGP has retained its sitting MLAs Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar in Marcaim and Deepak Dhavalikar in Priol.
In Ponda constituency, it has again re-nominated Lavu Mamlatdar, while Prakash Arjun Velip will be contesting from Quepem constituency.
Declaring this at the press conference, MGP’s working president Adv Narayan Sawant said that the decision has been taken by the party’s parliamentary committee, which met Monday.
He said that party is on the look out for candidates in Benaulim, Nuvem, Dabolim and Tivim constituencies.
“The remaining list would be out by Tuesday morning,” Sawant informed.
When asked about talks with Kiran Kandolkar to contest from Tivim constituency, Sawant said ‘first preference would be given to MGP workers’.
The leader said that the candidates have already begun their campaign in different constituencies.
The party will support BJP in 31 constituencies and also Nirmala Sawant in Cumbharjua constituency.
