MGP resolves to rebuild party organisation

To field workers for the forthcoming municipal polls; AGM adopts the new 16-member Central Committee under president Deepak for three years

PANJIM: Gearing up for the upcoming 2022 Assembly elections in the State, the Maharashtrwadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Sunday resolved to rebuild the party organisation in a bid to put up a strong fight in the Assembly elections.

In a first step, the party has decided to field its workers for the forthcoming municipal elections, likely to be held in March.

The MGP’s annual general body meeting (AGM) on Sunday adopted the new 16-member Central Committee under President Deepak Dhavalikar for three years. The new Central Committee was elected on Saturday.

Addressing media persons post AGM; Dhavalikar said that the Central Committee will work towards rebuilding the party organization, right from the grassroots. “The process will begin with formation of Constituency Committees,” he said adding ‘attempts would be made to reach out in those constituencies, where the party has no presence so far’.

“In 2022 election, MGP will contest with full strength,” he commented.

The AGM also resolved to set up a Disciplinary Committee, which will take action against all those involved in anti-party activities or gross breach of discipline. Dhavalikar said that the decision of the Disciplinary Committee would be final.

Meanwhile, the AGM accorded its nod to Central Committee’s decision to expel general secretary and former MLA Lavoo Mamledar from the party for six years for gross breach of discipline.
