PANJIM: Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) organised a day-long agitation at Azad Maidan Panjim on Tuesday to protest against the manner in which the Goan student community has been suffering in the State due to the poor Internet infrastructure.
While addressing media persons, MGP Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar pointed out that as per the government’s circular, it is compulsory for students to pursue online education but the same government has failed to ensure that the students have the facilities to access e-classes.
Recalling that they had submitted memorandums to all State government departments concerned as well as the Goa Governor on this issue, MGP said they have been protesting for over a month now on this issue.
Dhavalikar further recalled that the CM had in the Assembly, assured to ensure that all constituencies have internet connectivity and that students from rural areas would be given smart phones, to help them study online.
MGP also criticised rival parties for damaging cables of Wi-Fi systems installed by their party members that were providing free and reliable internet service for the student community.
