MGP to back BJP candidates for LS polls

PANJIM: The Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Sunday resolved to support Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led candidates in both North as well as South Goa Parliamentary constituencies in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The decision was taken by the party’s central committee of which met at its office.

The central committee also accepted the resignation of former MLA Naresh Sawal and dissolved the working committee.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, MGP president Deepak Dhavalikar said, “As we are with the BJP, we have decided to extend support to its candidates in the Lok Sabha elections. All the MGP workers, voters and office- bearers will be with the candidates fielded by the BJP.”

He also called upon MGP workers to attend the public meeting to be addressed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Margao on Tuesday, February 6. At the same time, he urged the party workers to maintain decency while speaking in public.
