PERNEM: The Pernem MGP unit and the MGP’s State leadership appear divided on re-inducting Tourism Minister Manohar alias Babu Ajgaonkar into the regional party for the upcoming Assembly elections.
The MGP Pernem Block and Core Committee have demanded that they want Ajgaonkar to represent MGP in coming Assembly elections from Pernem constituency.
The MGP Core Committee and Block of Pernem Constituency held a meeting on Sunday to discuss on their representation in upcoming Assembly elections following MGP’s Pernem leader Pravin Arlekar resignation as he will be joining the BJP on Monday.
In a tit for tat, the Core Committee and Block has decided that the way BJP robbed their candidate, they want to give the BJP’s present Pernem MLA and Tourism Minister Babu Ajgaonkar the MGP ticket. The demand has been put forth before the State MGP leaders.
“The core committee and Block Comittee members of MGP in Pernem constituency have decided to give the party ticket to Manohar (Babu) Ajgaonkar for upcoming Assembly elections in Pernem Constituency. The decision was taken in a meeting held at Corgao in Pernem. The demand has been forwarded to the party eaders. We hope that our party leaders will take this demand positively and take the right decision,” said Apa Teli, core committee member of Pernem MGP.
Teli said the party workers from Pernem had worked for Arlekar as their candidate for the 2022 Assembly elections. In a tit for tat, they want the MGP ticket to be given to Ajgaonkar.
Meanwhile, MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar has dismissed reports of Ajgaonkar joining the MGP.
Sudin told Herald, “MGP will not take back those who have left the party, the Pernem unit discussed the possibility of his wife (Babu) joining, but the party has not given any say on the matter.”
