MARAGO: The Loutolim gram sabha unanimously resolved that the proposed diversion of Mhadei River by Karnataka must be rejected, all permissions granted including the approval of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) must be revoked and that no further permissions shall be granted.
The gram sabha also discussed the serious flaws seen in the final Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) and resolved to immediately write to the State’s Environment Department, the Union Environment Ministry and Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority, with the demand to revoke the published final CZMPS and prepare proper maps in consultation with the panchayat and people. It expressed its willingness to do whatever is necessary including approaching the court.
The gram sabha also called for the immediate halt of coal handling at Mormugao Port and coal transportation within Goa.
