MAPUSA: BJP Goa election in-charge Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday said Mhapsekars want a local leader and not a representative who operates remotely from Calangute.
Addressing media during the opening of Election office of Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza at Mapusa, Fadnavis said, “Leaders, who have amassed immense wealth, are trying to capture Bardez especially Mapusa. However we don’t need person to control people of Mapusa with a remote. Mhapsekars do not want a representative, who operates remotely from Calangute, they want a local leader.”
BJP State president Sadanand Tanavade and Mapusa MLA Joshua D’Souza were present.
On going solo for Assembly elections, Fadnavis said,”BJP now has a big support base in Goa. We have sizeable number of both voters and cadres in each constituency in the State and our cadre feels that we should contest all 40 seats. We tried to form alliance with Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) but they decided to go with Trinamool Congress (TMC).”
“The people of Goa have rejected Trinamool Congress Party. People saw how Hindus were targeted in West Bengal after the Assembly elections results. Here in Goa, people feel its anti-Hindu party,” Fadnavis said.
He said BJP offered Utpal Parrikar two constituencies to contest the upcoming Assembly polls.
