PANJIM: Calangute MLA and BJP candidate Michael Lobo is banking on development in the constituency to win the forthcoming elections against his friend-turned-foe Congress nominee Joseph Sequeira.
“We started campaigning much ahead of the others. I have been doing works of the people for five years,” Lobo said. He says no matter how big a politician is, he has to go to the people once every five years otherwise they do not vote.
Lobo says he has carried out works worth nearly Rs 500 cr in the constituency. “Be it bridges in Arpora, Baga, road widening, drains, beautification of circle, I have done it all in the last five years,” he said.
Lobo has received a good response in his campaign as people said they are with him but also point out problems in their locality. “This was Agnelo Fernandes’ vote bank initially and I was not allowed to carry out any development work but slowly the people now understand what is good for them,” he said.
Lobo said people have received him well and he is sure to win with a thumping margin. “I have carried out lot of works but still there are some places where I need to do work and for that I need more time,” he stated.
As he moves into the small lanes and a few houses atop the hill he finds a few old people.
