MARGAO: Former Minister Mickky Pacheco apparently only spoke to United Goans Democratic Party President and General Secretary about his desire to return to the party and the party has not even discussed the matter according to officials of the party.
UGDP President Dr Jorson Fernandes admitted that Mickky had called him up on July 27 and expressed his desire to return to the party and further told him that he would be making the announcement at a press conference he was scheduled to have later.
“We are not averse to admitting him to the party given the fact that he has considerable support that could help our party grow. But the procedures have to be followed and he has to apply to join the party which will then be discussed by us,” he said.
General Secretary Adv Anacleto Viegas said nothing is finalized about the matter as yet and the party will decide about Mickey’s proposal at its next meeting.
Party Vice President Adv Radharao Gracias expressed surprise over the move as he was not even aware of such a development. “At least Mickey has not spoken to me about him returning to the party,” he said while repeating that the party will meet and decide upon the matter.
