MARGAO: The former Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has demanded that the Betalbatim sarpanch immediately and publicly apologises to the people for creating anxiety and fear among the families of youngsters allegedly in the name of drugs in the village.
Instead of discussing the issue of drugs use by youngsters from Betalbatim in the panchayat, the former MLA has alleged that Sarpanch Constancio Miranda asked the parish priest to read the warning during the mass.
“By requesting the parish priest to read the warning of drug use in the village by youngsters, the sarpanch has created anxiety and fear amongst the villagers,” Mickky alleged.
Mickky further informed that the parents in the village have begun asking whether their children are involved in drug use. “There could have been an emergency meet called by the panchayat and discussed the issue without creating tension amongst the villagers,” Mickky opined.
