CANACONA: The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) ordered closure of a hotel and a bakery at Chaudi town for not conforming to FDA norms, on Saturday.
FDA officials descended on Chaudi on Saturday for conducting raids at eateries and sweet mart shops over complaints of not complying with the norms laid down under FDA regulations. After the raid, they closed down a hotel and a bakery for not conforming to the norms laid down under FDA guidelines.
A team comprising of FDA officials A Rodrigues, Ms Priya Desai and Ms Sharda Kutkar visited the fruit and vegetable market at Chaudi and took samples of fruits and vegetables for testing at the testing facility at FDA office at Bambolim for usage of any chemicals for artificial ripening and preservation. Later, a couple of sweet marts, eateries and bakeries were raided and on finding various deficiencies a hotel and a bakery were closed down.
