PANJIM: Plans of delivering a get well soon card to convicted MLA Mickky Pacheco by the Goa wing of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) were foiled Saturday evening as security guards refused entry to Ward 143 at Goa Medical College (GMC) where the minister is admitted.
At 4 pm on Saturday, AAP Treasurer Valmiki Naik joined by a group of around 10 members, went to the hospital where the Nuvem MLA is currently receiving treatment for chest pain but were not allowed to enter as security guards latched the doors to the entrance of the ward.
Speaking about the party’s move, Naik said that while the general public would choose to recover at home, there were the highly influential people who being sentenced to jail would rather spend time in the hospital.
“We are truly concerned about his health and want him to recover and get well soon so that he can hurry back to Sada jail. After spending months absconding within 24 hours he finds himself in the hospital. It seems to be a Aam Aadmi versus the Khaas Aadmi here,” he said.
Demanding that the rules for everyone be the same, the party has said that if the minister were to be kept at GMC for over 72 hours, they would march to the Dean’s office and ask for doctors to verify if the minister was fit to be jailed or hospitalized.
