Mickky in no mood to recommend party MLA Caitu for Cabinet berth

TEAM HERALD MARGAO: The Goa Vikas Party leadership on Saturday seemed not inclined for the moment in recommending the name of its Benaulim MLA Caitu Silva for a ministerial berth in the Parsekar government. Reacting to media statements made by the Benaulim MLA,

staking claim for the ministerial berth in the wake of  the resignation by party supremo Mickky Pacheco, GVP  General Secretary Lyndon Monteiro recalled how the  Benaulim MLA had offended the party leaders and  workers during the Zilla Panchayat polls by supporting
an Independent for the Benaulim seat and later  remaining neutral in the House at the time of voting  on the government’s decision to hold the Zilla  Panchayat election on party lines. The party will take a decision on the ministerial   berth. No doubt, the ministerial berth was given to  the GVP and the party will decide what is good for the  growth of the regional party and not for any single  individual,” Lyndon said.
He recalled that the party had publicly expressed its unhappiness at the Benaulim MLA’s stand during the ZP  polls, which was contrary to that of the GVP  leadership.  Replying to a question,  Lyndon said the party  leadership has till date not received any claim from
the Benaulim MLA for the ministerial berth. “Let Caitu  make a formal request for the ministerial berth and  the party leadership will take a decision in the best  interest of the party,” he said.
