PANJIM: Amid concerns raised by former Tourism Minister and Nuvem MLA Francisco Mickky Pacheco that the restriction on liquor timings would affect tourism, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said that he was willing to make ‘localized corrections’.
Pacheco said that tourists were coming to Goa not to go to bed early and that nightlife was an essential part of tourism.
Parrikar, however, cautioned that in the name of tourism he did not want to promote drinking among people. “The largest number of cause of deaths in GMC is due to liver cirrhosis,” Parrikar said.
We can increase the timings and relax it in some tourist specific areas, he said adding that by the next budget session he would take up the issue.
