In an interesting development, the Mickky Pacheco led group in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has threatened to leave the party if the NCP high command does not accept their series of demands by Saturday.
Party officials also stated that Mickky will float a new party if the NCP does not adhere to his demands.
The group in a communication to the NCP high command has made three demands – induct Mickky into the cabinet, drop the two NCP ministers Jose Philip and Nilkanth Halarnkar or if the two demands cannot be met withdraw support to the Congress-led government.
NCP General Secretary Prabhu Moni, when contacted by Herald here confirmed the development.
“Yes, we have communicated to the high command to accept our demands or we leave the party,” Moni said.
He stated that the Congress party is taking the NCP for granted in Goa.
“It is over a month our high command has conveyed their decision to Congress on Mickky’s induction and dropping of two ministers but nothing has happened till date,” Moni explained adding “Our high command is still unable to get an audience with United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi on the matter”.
“We have conveyed our sentiments and if the high command wants us in the  party they need to act fast,” he remarked adding “90 to 95 per cent of the party are supporting this decision”.
He also questioned what is the need to stick with the Congress government when the NCP has decided to go all alone in the next assembly elections?
“We need to withdraw support and start working in all 40 constituencies right now,” Moni stated.
