Mickky’s close aide defeated

In a closely fought contest, Sebastiao Vaz lost the election by a narrow margin of six votes. While Sebastiao polled 150 votes, his immediate rival and winner Peter D’Costa got 156 votes. The third candidate Prabhakar Naik polled 34 votes while Jose Marques drew a blank. Even as news spread in the village that his close aide Sebastiao was defeated in the Loutolim panchayat bye-poll, Mickky maintained that he did not interfere in the election at all. “I did not involve myself in the election since the main candidates are my supporters”, he said. Meanwhile, Patrocino Vaz was declared elected in the bye-election in Macazana. While Patrocino polled 93 votes, Concceicao D’Costa polled 47 votes.
