Min asks contractor, consultant of Porvorim flyover to meet stakeholders; discuss issues

PANJIM: Tourism Minister  Rohan Khaunte on Thursday said that the contractor and consultant of the Porvorim flyover work on NH66 have been asked to hold a meeting with all stakeholders on Saturday to sort out several coordination issues which have emerged after work for the flyover has commenced.

Speaking to reporters after inspecting the ongoing flyover work, Khaunte said, “Have called all line departments like water, electricity, state highway, land survey and TCP as part of inspection of the work which has been started. I have asked the contractor to show the presentation to us so that minimum disturbance is caused while the work is completed in a time bound manner.”

“We have told the contractor not to disturb the service road. The work started without intimation to us and now there is no coordination. Traffic movement is not related only to the Porvorim stretch. I have told the consultant and the contractor to study Goa and traffic. We need to ensure that minimum disturbance is done and need to open new roads,” he said.

Pointing out that 15,000 to 20,000 vehicles pass from the O Coqueiro junction in an hour, the Minister said he has asked for a final presentation before him, chief minister and panchayat where everybody will know about the project and put forward their points.

A key meeting is scheduled for Saturday to address outstanding issues and ensure smooth development. This meeting will include the contractor, consultant, and government departments.

Rajasthan-based Rajendra Singh Bhamboo Infra Private Ltd (RSBIPL) has been allotted the tender to build the Rs 474.64 crore elevated six-lane highway corridor at Porvorim.
