In order to know the content of iron ore, the geological study is required to be done and the same is being carried out by the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM). The IBM officials already visited Goa and conducted preliminary inspections of few random iron ore dumps. The State government had already taken onboard the IBM and the Geological Survey of India (GSI) to study the profile of iron ore dumps in mining areas.
According to submission made by Goa Foundation in the Supreme Court, there are 730 dumps while the State government had declared over 300 dump sites.
