PANJIM: The Directorate of Mines and Geology has invited tenders to auction minor minerals including river boulders/pebble, gravel etc and sand together worth Rs 63.35 lakh.
The minor minerals to be auctioned include 7,449 cubic metres of river boulders, pebble, gravel etc worth Rs 52,14,300 and 1,101 cubic metres sand estimated to be worth Rs 13,21,200. The total estimated value of minor minerals is Rs 65,35,500.
The minor minerals are located in survey numbers 33/1 and 34/1 at Borcottem of Collem village of Dharbandora Taluka.
The Directorate of Mines and Geology has decided to auction minor minerals as per the directives of the High Court of Bombay at Goa, which while hearing a public interest litigation suo moto had ordered auctioning of the attached property and to appropriate the amount with the State government.
Earlier, the Court had also asked the police to find out other movable and immovable properties of one Swapnil Malik so as to recover the loss caused due to illegal extraction of sand from the river Ragada and causing immense damage to the environment. The Director of Mines and Minerals had determined the loss to the tune of over 1.60 crore.
In view of this, the Directorate of Mines and Geology hadnow invited financial bids from the interested bidders for purchase of above minor minerals on as is where is basis. The last date to submit financial bids is November 20, 2013.
