BICHOLIM: A joint inspection was carried out by the District committee formed by State government on Tuesday to prepare a safety audit report in mining areas as part of pre-monsoon preparedness.
During the inspection Vedanta mines at Lamgao, Mulgao, Lithoferro Mines Advapal, Salgaokar Mines Advalpal, Sesa Sterlite Mines Advapal, Rajaram Bandekar Mines Shirgao and Chowgule Mines Shirgao were inspected. Director of Mines and Safety Goa Malay, Mamlatdar of Bicholim taluka Pravinjay Pandit, Assistant engineer WRD Bicholim KP Naik forest officials, Bicholim PI Filomeno Costa and other officials of mining companies were present for the inspection.
Review was conducted in respect of preparatory arrangements of mining companies in monsoon to prevent any untoward incidents. WRD and mining companies were directed to pump excess water from mining pits. Further, mining companies were directed to take necessary measures to prevent silt from flowing in the paddy fields in monsoon. The inspection of all mines will be undertaken by May 17, 2019.
