PONDA: Turning their ire at “those involved in illegal mining”, people affected by a halt in mining activities are on a three-day protest at Pansule-Dharbandora.

The affected people, who have formed the ‘Goa Mining People’s Forum’ condemned illegal mining activity that had affected the livelihood of several truck operators and others dependent on mining activities.

“We were not aware whether the ore we were transporting was legal or not. We don’t support illegal mining and we want the government to take action on those involved in illegal mining. We are left to suffer for no fault of ours”, said Anand Naik, a truck owner from Savordem constituency.

Naik is among several other people from Savordem constituency who are on a three day strike at Pansule-Dharbandora, to demand the resumption of legal mining in the State.
