BICHOLIM: The mining companies in Shirgao village have refused to pay water bills of the Shirgao locals sparking a new row in the village.
During a meeting at the Bicholim deputy collector’s office, the company officials refused the demand of the Shirgao locals to pay their pending water bills.
At the meeting it was informed that water bills of 371 houses amounting to around Rs 20 lakh have not been paid by the mining companies since March 2018. Thereafter, in the evening, Shirgao villagers decided to continue their agitation until the water bills are paid.
