Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has slammed the government for its alleged failure to recover Rs. 271 crore in a mining fraud case. GPCC President, Amit Patkar, voiced strong concerns during a press conference on Thursday, highlighting the government’s inadequacies in addressing the issue.
Patkar specifically questioned the decision to grant two mining blocks to Vedanta, a mining company reportedly owing Rs. 165 crore in dues. The GPCC president accused the government of extending undue favours to Vedanta despite its unpaid debts.
Expressing dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the situation, Patkar urged swift action and demanded the recovery of the Rs. 271 crore before Diwali, emphasizing the urgency of resolving the issue.
