PANJIM: Swayampurana Goa 2.0, resumption of iron ore mining activities and employment creation are among the top priorities before the newly sworn in Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who also laid focus on implementing the promised made in election manifesto, over next five years.
Sawant took charge as the Chief Minister of Goa on Monday afternoon and chaired a cabinet meeting with his eight Ministers.
Sawant is set to table State Budget 2022-23 in the Assembly on Wednesday. The budget will spell out various plans of the government, he said.
Speaking to media persons post taking charge, Sawant said that making Goa Swayampurana and Tourism capital of India, resuming mining activities, employment creation and fulfilling all the promises made in the BJP poll manifesto are top priorities of his government.
“Goa’s priorities are important to us. Human development and infrastructure development will continue,” he said.
Sawant said that with the help of double engine government the mission of Swayapurna Goa will be taken to next phase i.e. 2.0 under the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision of the center.
Efforts will be on towards making Goa the Tourism capital of the country by enhancing the tourism infrastructure in the state, taking up projects in PPP mode and emphasis on medical and hinterland tourism, Sawant said.
“Mining activities have been shut. We have taken steps but due to election it could not move forward. Everything will fall in place now,” he said.
