PANJIM: The North Goa District and Sessions Court on Tuesday granted bail to a mining trader Kancha Gaunder who was arrested by the Special Investigation Team last month in connection with the mining scam being probed by them.
The Court, while granting bail, asked Gaunder to furnish a surety of Rs 50,000 as a personal bond.
SIT of Crime Branch arrested Gaunder on June 29 for his alleged involvement in illegal mining and theft of iron ore.
During interrogation it was revealed that though the accused is registered with the Department of Mines & Geology, he would allegedly intentionally not file returns for iron ore trade and thus evaded dues to the State government.
Gaunder is linked to a case wherein former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has applied for anticipatory bail.
