PANJIM: Ahead of the Budget Session of the Goa Legislative Assembly, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said revenue receipt from the mining sector will be considered in the Budget for 2020-21 financial year.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the State-level function on Republic Day held at Campal on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that Business Advisory Committee of the Legislative Assembly will meet on January 28 during which the exact date to present the State budget would be decided.
He said that Goa government is positive about resumption of mining, due to which, it will consider it as one of the revenue generation source in the budget.
The Budget Session will be held from February 3 to 7. Sawant had earlier said the State was losing Rs 1,400 crore annually due to the closure of mining operations.
During the recent visit of the Finance Commission in the State, the political parties sought lump sum amount to compensate those affected by the industry’s closure also as the State suffered loss of several crores per year.
