MARGAO: Welcoming Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar’s statement on withdrawing the proposed hike in power tariff for domestic consumers, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Tuesday termed it as a right decision in the interest of the people.
He pointed out that the government was meant to help and aid the common man and recalled that as an Opposition member he had in the past even burnt electricity bills protesting against the high charges levied by the then government.
“As a representative of the people I voiced their resentment against the hike as I am still with the common people and understand and feel their woes,” he said, justifying his outburst against the proposed hike.
However, he expressed his happiness over the withdrawal of the proposed hike especially for the common man as the power minister has dropped the hike for domestic consumers using up to 200 units.
