PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party, on Tuesday, dismissed Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo’s statement regarding GoaMiles as a farce and a political gimmick only to garner votes for the next elections and further said “it is a reflection that Michael is not sure of winning the next elections.”

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa Convener Rahul Mhambre pointed out that Lobo had stated that late chief minister Manohar Parrikar had brought in GoaMiles the app based taxi service in Goa without consulting anybody and asserted that at least he was not consulted on this matter.

However, according to officials of GoaMiles “Parrikar had categorically called Lobo three days before the order permitting GoaMiles was signed and asked him to give his objections if any, and Michael had reportedly said he had no objection.”

“What is interesting is that now because taxi owners have intensified their battle against GoaMiles and their numbers are increasing Michael Lobo, who represents a tourism dependant constituency, is getting worried and making such statements,” said Mhambre

“Michael lobo was pretending to be a saviour of the taxi owners before being inducted into the ministry. But once he became a part of the cabinet he has left them in the dark only to remember them as elections approach,” said Mhambre.

“It is crystal clear that Michael Lobo is using the taxi drivers as his vote bank and his gimmicks to entice them have begun just before assembly elections. Such ‘jumlas’ will never work as Goans have now seen the light and realised that this current BJP govt. specialises in ‘Jumlebaazi’”, said Mhambre.

While repeating GoaMiles official’s statement that Michael Lobo is hardly taken seriously by people, Mhambre said this outburst of Michael is nothing but a manifestation of the ongoing battle within the BJP with some party members and MLA unhappy with chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant.
