VASCO: Motorcycle pilots from Vasco will likely be roped in for home delivering essential commodities in towns and villages during the lockdown.

In this connection, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho has suggested to the Director of Transport to discuss the proposal with chief secretary and to seek government clearance for the same.

When asked how he proposes to support the motorcycle pilots from Vasco town, the minister said that the pilots could be employed for home delivery of essential commodities. “This way they can serve the people and earn their living,” Godinho said.

To start with, said that he would try this with one motorcycle pilot by sending some essential commodities to a woman who stays in Chinchinim who had messaged him about the difficulty in getting the groceries during lockdown.

Godinho said that a circular can be issued stating that the motorcycle pilots may be employed for home delivery of the essential commodities in remote areas and then they can be even given transit permissions, if needed, to travel to other constituencies or area.

Meanwhile, Godinho requested the people not to misuse the social media and spread rumours.

He said that recently there have been numerous fake stories circulating on social media and the Government has issued directions to regulate this.
