PONDA: Priol MLA and Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude on Thursday said he will request Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to withdraw the police cases registered against the students of Shel Melauli including Pooja Melekar, who participated in the protest opposing the proposed IIT project in the village.
Gaude said, “The cases registered will create hurdles in the path of students pursuing higher education and so the government should withdraw it.”
He was speaking to the media persons after felicitating Pooja at Ravi Naik PES College, Farmagudi. She was felicitated for securing highest marks in the Analytical Chemistry in third year BSc (TYBSc), who topped the Goa University in the final exams.
Ponda MLA Ravi Naik, who is also the chairman of PES College was present.
It may be recalled that the land demarcation for IIT project at Shel Melauli was disrupted by the villagers. There were clashes among the villagers and police during an agitation by the villagers following which cases were filed against the villagers and students including Pooja.
