PANJIM: The politicking for portfolios begins as ministers eye plum allotments on the eve of the six-day assembly session.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is meeting with cabinet colleagues on Monday evening to sort out the portfolio allocations even as he made it amply clear that there is no cabinet reshuffle on the cards.
Resentment has started brewing as some cabinet colleagues are eyeing portfolios of TCP, Education and Agriculture, which Parrikar is likely to maintain.
Other portfolios that are in demand include Sports, Tourism, Social Welfare and Co-operation.
News from the political circles is that the MGP camp has its eyes on the Ministry for Social Welfare while a senior BJP minister from Shiroda is eyeing Co-operation.
The present minister for Fisheries is eyeing Sports, Francis D’Souza is hoping to get Tourism and Dayanand Mandrekar has hopes pinned on getting Agriculture.
The MLAs from the BJP and MGP camps were hurdled into meetings today to
discuss the issue.
Chief Minister Parrikar today met MGP MLAs, but spokesperson Dipak Dhavalikar denied there being any discussions on portfolio allotments.
Dhavalikar said, “We discussed about the assembly session and the issue of portfolios will be discussed on Monday.”
It is learnt that BJP MLAs who met Chief Minister Parrikar on Saturday expressed resentment over delay in developmental works and insisted on execution of works.
