PANJIM: Cabinet Ministers can now sanction proposals involving expenditure up to Rs 1 crore till March 31, during the absence of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
The State Finance Department, in an office memorandum issued on March 7, has partially modified its earlier memorandum dated July 27, 2012. Financial powers were earlier restricted to proposals up to Rs 50 lakhs.
“The proposals involving expenditure sanctions up to Rs 1 crore shall be disposed by the minister of the department concerned,” the office memorandum on the department disposal of business stated.
It further said that all such proposals shall be processed in their normal course through the division concerned of the Finance Department, adding that the arrangement shall be in force up to the end of the financial year 2017-18, that is up to March 31, 2018, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
The office memorandum has been issued with the approval of Parrikar, who holds the finance portfolio and is currently undergoing treatment at USA and is expected to be away for at least 6 weeks.
