Panjim: Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vijai Sardesai and Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar entered into a verbal spat over the delayed work of the proposed ‘ultra-modern’ bus stand at Margao, during the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) meeting. Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was part of the meeting.
Sardesai brought to the notice of Chief Minister the failure on the part of the PWD to complete the project, the foundation stone for which was laid in 2011. Dhavalikar on the other hand clarified the project is been executed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC).
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Sardesai said he is losing patience on various issues and Margao bus stand is one such issue. “I want that bus stand work to be completed at the earliest. Even CM wants it. I told the same to the PWD Minister” he said, but did not elaborate on the topic.
When contacted, Dhavalikar claimed that what transpired at the meeting was nothing serious and they were joking. “Nobody said anything seriously. It was mere political jokes. I have already clarified that bus stand is handled by GSIDC,” he said.
Spread over 16 acres of land, the Rs 350-crore project includes, besides a modern bus stand, a hotel block, a corporate block for commercial space and parking facilities.
