PANJIM: A 38-year-old man from West Bengal has been arrested for allegedly raping a minor on the pretext of taking her shopping in the capital city, on Monday evening.
The 17-year-old told the Panjim Police that the accused identified as Sujan Talukdar on the pretext of taking her shopping took her to a lodge, located next to the shopping centre, where he committed the act.
“He stripped her nude, wrongfully confined her in the lodge room. She resisted his rape attempts but he assaulted her and gagged her mouth to stop her from raising an alarm. The accused raped her and later threatened her to kill if she disclosed the incident to anyone,” a police official said quoting the complaint copy that was filed soon after she narrated her ordeal to her kin.
The victim had arrived from West Bengal on a short holiday to Goa where her kin works as daily wagers. The accused, working as a mason, convinced her relative to take her shopping on his bike while the latter would follow them. However, he took her to the lodge and raped her.
