Minor rape case: Babush to challenge Sessions Court order

PANJIM: Panjim MLA Atanasio (Babush) Monserrate said he would challenge before the High Court of Bombay at Goa, the District and Sessions Court order in the 2016 minor rape case against him.
His statement comes barely eight days after he had said he would not contest the order of the framing of charges against him.
The District and Sessions Court, on June 3, refused to stay framing of charges against him in the three-year-old rape case against him. Judge Sherin Paul had dismissed the application seeking to drop the charges.
After the court order, the Congress MLA had said that he is innocent and would not contest the order but move the High Court seeking to expedite trial in the case.
