Minor’s rape: Chaudi shopkeepers to down shutters

CANACONA: To protest the alleged rape of a six-year-old daughter of a migrant labourer by three security personnel at Nagarcem repeatedly for over two months, all shopkeepers in Chaudi will down their shutters on Tuesday (May 8).
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the chamber of the Chairperson of Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) which was attended by the Jagrut Nagrik Samithi of Canacona and concerned Canacona residents.
The office bearers of the Samithi disclosed that they have requested all shop owners at Chaudi to down their shutters from 1.30 pm to 6 pm on Tuesday. There will be a public meeting at old bus stand in Chaudi at 5 pm on Tuesday followed by the handing over of a memorandum to the Canacona Police Inspector. 
Sources at the Canacona Police Station said that the five days police custody of the three accused expired on Monday. The trio was produced before the Goa Children’s Court, Panjim and were remanded to 14-day judicial custody at Colvale jail, police said.
