VASCO: The residents around Mangor Hill Sports Club, Mangor Hill, Vasco on Saturday complained of having sleepless nights due to the menace caused by mischievous elements.
A small area which was used as garbage dumping ground near Gurudwara Road was beautified by an organisation for public recreation but sadly it has now being used as a place for liquor drinking and smoking.
Speaking to Herald, a local Peter Andrade stated that next to this place is a narrow road which is used as an illegal parking place for the taxis and private cars belonging to the drivers and owners residing in the slums situated on the other side of the main road.
“Since taxi drivers operate at any time of the night, it has become difficult to ascertain which person is a taxi driver or a mischievous element. This has resulted in the area being notorious for petty thefts, smoking drugs, eve teasing, puncturing tires and scratching of the cars,” he added.
Another local Manish on similar notes revealed that incidences such as throwing of beer bottles into private properties, spreading garbage and other nuisance, have been reported by few locals.
“Recently, a metal letter box of a resident was blasted with fire crackers along with the mail inside,” he added.
Group of people from Mangor have also opined that such misadventures activities were stopped when police patrolling was intensified during the term of Police Inspector Nolasco Raposo’s time.
