MARGAO: Two sisters from Badlapur, Mumbai who were missing for last three days were found at Margao railway station with an amount of cash.
Konkan railway police team headed by Assistant Sub-inspector Manoj Mandrekar and constable Mahesh Velip traced them at platform number one of Margao railway station on Monday evening around 7 pm. They are school students, said Konkan Railway Police.
According to the information available from the Konkan Railway Police, two sisters aged 15 and 16 years, decided to visit Goa by a train for touring beautiful places in the State. Both boarded train on July 8, from Mumbai and reached Margao next day, evening. Later they visited some places in Margao and surrounding areas.
Police said that after visiting a few places, they again came back to Margao Railway Station to depart Mumbai on July 10, around 7 pm. Both were seeing moving in a suspicious manner on the platform.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Mandrekar, who was on duty, suspected their movements and approached them. He then started talking to them, but during inquiry they did not give a satisfactory reply.
Meanwhile, both sisters were brought to the Konkan Railway Police station for inquiry and during the course of the interrogation, it was revealed that they had ran away from home on July 8. A case of kidnapping was registered at the Badlapur Police Station in Mumbai following a complaint.
Konkan Railway Police said that they received a wireless message giving description of two sisters from Mumbai police informing that both were missing and necessary action be taken if they are traced.
Police said later parents of both sisters also reached Margao. As per law, their statements were recorded.
The girls had come to Goa with cash of Rs 2 lakh. Konkan Railway Police, after conducting all legal formalities, handed them over to their parents along with cash found in possession of the sisters.
