‘Mission Bypass’ to apprise Tomar on mining situation in State

CURCHOREM: A delegation of ‘Mission Bypass’ will seek an appointment with Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, during his visit to Goa on May 27 to chair a meeting on illegal mining and apprise him on the prevailing mining situation in the State.

CURCHOREM: A delegation of ‘Mission Bypass’ will seek an appointment with Union Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, during his visit to Goa on May 27 to chair a meeting on illegal mining and apprise him on the prevailing mining situation in the State. 
Addressing the media on Wednesday, Mission Bypass convenor Pradip Kakodkar also informed that the delegation will also apprise the Union Minister on the government’s inefficiency to monitor and control the mining activity. 
Speaking further, he said that they have evaluated various options for speedy completion of mining corridor and a committee has been formed to pursue the matter with the government. “We would put forth our demands to include three ‘Mission Bypass’ members on the government’s steering committee, which was formed to monitor mining corridor work,” he added.
He informed that a separate committee has been formed to explore the possibility of filing an intervention petition to bring the facts before the Supreme Court, which they believe were not disclosed in an appropriate manner.
‘Mission Bypass’, an initiative of the citizens from Curchorem-Sanvordem, Tilamol, Quepem, Rivona, Sanguem and surrounding areas has been agitating for the last 22 days at the Tilamol junction demanding suspension of ore transportation till the mining corridor is ready.
