‘Mission Zero Garbage’ Prog at Vasco today

VASCO: An Awareness programme on ‘Mission Zero Garbage’ has been fixed on May 27 at 10.45 am in the Janata Vachnalaya, Vasco Municipality building. Director of faculty from Social Awareness and Action for Development (SAAD) Ravindra Gajbhiye will deliver a talk at the programme.
MMC Chief Officer Agnelo A Fernandes stated that they have identified 25 institutions/hotels which are generating 100 kg of waste per day and notices have been already issued to them and it’s time to think out of the box. “Every one of us should work hand in hand towards healthy environment,” he opined.
“We have taken a step towards healthy environment. Currently, waste management has become a global concern and a matter of attention. Every household is producing dry and wet waste daily which can be taken care by managing it by themselves. Time has come to turn our society into environment friendly,” Fernandes said.
Fernandes further informed that ‘Mission Zero Garbage’ has come up with some solutions with a transformer kit which would be helpful to adopt proper waste management techniques and convert household waste into valuable compost with timeframe of two months. “When we take care of our house and locality then waste management should be also a priority for the people. It is high time that we change our mindset and start composting and keep our environment garbage free,” he said.
