MLA along with Govt officials conduct Neura-Mandur, Dongrim khazans’ inspection

PANJIM: After Herald highlighted the issue of intentional flooding of khazans by unconventional operation of sluice gates, Revolutionary Goans Party’s newly elected St Andre Constituency MLA Viresh Borkar along with Tiswadi Mamlatdar conducted a joint inspection along with the officials of Water Resource Department (WRD), Soil Conservation Division (SCD) of Agriculture Department and Talathis at Neura-Mandur and Dongrim khazan land on Friday.

Mamlatdar of Tiswadi Taluka Dashrath Gaus ordered the officials to take a stringent action on those involved in deliberate flooding and breaching of bunds.

He further ordered to fast-track the process of giving succession rights to the heirs of departed farmers, failing which chairman of the association will be held guilty and punished.

Borkar directed the officials to carry out thorough inquiry into the long pending matters of khazans.

He further directed the Mamlatdar to submit the action plan within 2-3 days from the date of inspection.

Gaus informed that the inspection of rest of the khazans will be conducted in the same manner and those involved in illegalities will be punished.

Herald had recently highlighted the issue of deliberate inundation of khazan lands and venal act of government authorities in conjunction with the “fish mafias” conducting the elections of Tenants Association of Tiswadi Taluka.
