ALDONA: Local MLA Glenn Ticlo has rubbished the post that has gone viral on social media that a coal jetty and a 25 meter wide road that has been planned in Aldona.
The message states that main road in Aldona would be widened for transporting coal to the industries in Maharashtra. The message further states that the widening of the road would damage the Church and houses along that route in Aldona.
The coal jetty and road widening is one of the issues listed in the agenda for the public meeting to be held at Mapusa on Wednesday.
When contacted, Ticlo he said that he was not aware of this proposal and confirmed with the concerned authority about the same.
“Leave alone planning, no such proposal has come up for consideration. There will be no road widening in Aldona; neither is there any plan for a coal jetty. I was surprised by this message circulating on the social media and immediately contacted the PWD department, PCE and AE. I request the people not to fall prey to such false information being circulated,” Ticlo said.
“I would like to assure my people that I will protect my people and my constituency and never allow such polluting industries or mega townships to be set up in Aldona. As I am out of station, I will not be able to attend the meeting being held on liberation day,” he added.
