PANJIM: Following the bad conditions of the roads in the city, Panjim MLA Babush Monseratte has proposed that the city roads work be taken up by the Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Corporation Ltd.
Speaking to the reporters after meeting Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, Monseratte said that the roads in Panjim are really bad.
“PWD has said that they will do the work and that’s the reason I told Chief Minister, let Smart City take it up,” he said.
He said that the PWD is already short of funds.
“We need to take advantage of the Smart City as the government will spend only 50 per cent rest will come from Centre,” he said.
Further, he said that with the National Green Tribunal ruling in favour of the government, there should not be much time for the Bainguinim Solid Waste Management Plant.
“I am confident the Chief Minister and the Waste Management Minister (Michael Lobo) will expedite the work now,” he said.
