Cuncolim MLA Clafacio Dias said he was confident that Environment Minister Nilesh Cabral would abide by the aspirations and expectations of the people. Earlier, the MLA expressed happiness that the Coastal Zone Management Plans have been sent back for redrafting.
Admitting that four villages in his constituency are affected by the CZMP, he said he was amongst the first to demand that the plans be redrafted by taking the locals into confidence. “I had made this demand at the meeting that was held when the plans were explained to the MLAs,” he said.
Clafacio said the plan has to be prepared at village level by consulting the local people. He admitted that such plans cannot be prepared sitting in some office in Chennai but the situation has to be studied at home.
