CANACONA: Upset over the slow and shoddy work undertaken by the contractors and the lukewarm response by authorities in resolving issues concerning his constituency, Canacona MLA Isidore Fernandes lambasted the authorities in a press briefing he arranged at his office recently.
Speaking to the media he said that despite his wholehearted support for the developmental works, the contractors of public works like the Ravindra Bhavan, Mastimoll Higher Secondary and government school at Cotigao are working at snail’s pace putting everyone in inconvenience.
It may be recalled that Herald had highlighted the issue of slow and untidy work by the Delhi based contractor of the Canacona Ravindra Bhavan. It is almost two and half years since the work started and the work is not even 50 percent complete.
Fernandes then directed his ire on the contractor who is allotted the work of repairing a government school at Avli in Cotigao by Goa State Infrastructure Corporation.
“The repair works which was supposed to be finished during the summer vacation is still not complete and the students mostly belonging to ST community are made to sit in a makeshift room endangering the life of the young ones,” Fernandes lamented.
“I am yet to get any response from the authorities to the letters I wrote over the road and water issues of Marle-Tirval villagers for which all of the 221 voters boycotted the recent general elections,” Fernandes lamented.
Other issues raised were the non-allotment of plots to the original applicants who had applied for plots way back in 1990 at Housing Board at Shristal.
